Phil Cheng and his wife, Laura, live in Dorchester with their daughter, Charlotte. Phil came to Boston from Rhode Island for college, where he met Laura. They both have a love for the city and Christ the King where they have been since 2010. Phil came to know Jesus as a young child and professed his faith in high school. His heart longs to love and serve those around him, and share the grace that he has received. He feels blessed to be part of a church full of the people that God has brought together for the sake of his glory.
Born in San Anto- nio, Texas, I grew up in a church-go- ing household with two loving parents. Though I was exposed to biblical teaching throughout my childhood, the beauty of the gospel was never apparent to me. After graduating high school and with no sense of purpose in life, I moved to Greenville, South Carolina to attend Furman Univer- sity and play college football. Before my first semester was finished, I had tasted the goodness of the Lord and called upon the name of Jesus for my salvation. Years have passed and I am now married to a wonderful woman of God, Katie, and have four children - Harkin, Tobias, Simone and Sylvia. We live in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester and have been grateful for the opportunity to do life among our multi-lingual, multi-cultural and mixed-income neighbors. Our hope and prayer is that God’s will would be done and His Kingdom would come in our streets and that the various tribes, tongues and nations within Dorchester would together rejoice in the glory of the Lord.
David hails from Kaduna - Northern Nigeria and moved to Boston for graduate studies with his family in 2009. He came to Christ in college during a student conference organized by the Fellowship of Christian Students. All the while he thought he was a Chris- tian because his mother was one and she encouraged him and his siblings to attend Sunday school every Sunday and had daily devotion as a family. While in the Uni- versity he was discipled by the Nigerian ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ In- ternational (Cru). He and his wife, Maryam helped to start and lead Priority Associates Nigeria, a young professional ministry of Cru for over 7 years until 2009. His heart for missions and evangelism led him to dif- ferent countries for short term missions. He has a desire to encourage others toward discipleship and missions and the oppor- tunities this provides to encourage and inspire others in the Lord’s work in their lives. David has a wellspring of love for God’s people, the church and His world. He graduated with the Master of Arts in Educational Ministry of the Church & another Master of Arts in Youth Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Semi- nary. He has a burden for reaching the nations and with his family is committed to serving the Christ the King in any capac- ity. David and his beautiful wife, Maryam, have two boys - Daniel and Joshua. David enjoys driving, traveling, loves his family dearly and is a true risk-taker.
